One of my goals this summer was to capture a bull moose. Most of the time when I capture wildlife, it is usually when I have given up any hope of capturing any. The trip was already considered a bust. When I feel that way and I capture something great (in my mind) I chuckle to myself that God is working very hard to teach me patience and faith. On my paddle up Magalloway River in the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, it happened again. I had gone into a cove and, as I sometimes do, I told myself how beautiful the scenery was. I spoke to myself and then heard something moving in the woods. I immediately decided I had missed my only chance at a moose. I paddled further up the river towards Umbagog Lake and started stalking some geese. I figured they were better than nothing, right? I have my camera up and I hear a bunch of splashing behind me. I am from a very small town in Central Maine. I have been married for over 32 years and have four grown children and four grandchildren. While I love photography, I do not have a lot of time to enjoy it. I work full-time and help with daycare for two of my grandchildren. When I have time, I take full advantage and I am usually gone for an entire day between travel and the photography. For many years, I kayaked in the same three ponds in Litchfield, Maine.
